Lack of scale in Irish homebuilders is ‘major issue’ that threatens supply - report

Analysts at Goodbody highlighted the small size of Irish homebuilders compared to the UK

Irish homebuilders’ lack of scale is a “major issue” which threatens future supply, according to a new report from Goodbody.

The report showed the top 10 house providers in Ireland account for 32 per cent of the market, compared with 42 per cent for the equivalent UK statistic. Only five providers started on more than 500 units in 2023, a situation that has been stagnant over the past five years.
