Ireland is clubbing together with a group of nine countries to try to water down a draft EU summit statement on insolvency law and corporate tax reform.

One senior European official said the move was in response to a “complete French stitch-up” on the capital markets union, the bloc’s effort to unlock more equity financing for firms.
