The government needs to increase thresholds on pensions and equalise the treatment of private- sector taxpayers if it is going to avoid a national pension funding crisis, according to KPMG.

In response to a public consultation on a review of pension thresholds announced last December, the Big Four firm called on the government to increase the standard fund threshold and tax-free lump sum.
