US planemaker Boeing has been rocked by a scathing report into its safety culture, heaping further pressure on the embattled company.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) criticised Boeing for what it described as ineffective procedures and a breakdown in communications between senior management and other members of staff.

A panel of experts convened by the US regulator found that repeated changes to complex procedures and training created confusion, while other shortcomings affected employees’ understanding of their role in how Boeing manages safety, according to the report.
