Bank of Ireland’s carbon emissions rose 26 per cent in 2023

A sharp uptick in the firm’s travel-related emissions drove its overall carbon output higher

Bank of Ireland saw a double-digit increase in its associated carbon emissions last year, primarily due to a sharp increase in business travel.

As part of its full year results announcement last week, the bank reported figures for its overall carbon footprint, including climate pollution associated with fuel consumption, energy usage and transport.
