Bank of Ireland has reported a €1 billion profit before tax in the first half of this year, on the back of higher interest rates, strategic actions, “positive” business momentum.

New lending in Ireland of €5.2 billion was up 20 per cent in the first half of this year compared to the corresponding period last year, according to interim results from the bank.
