Bank of Ireland: Manufacturing faces sluggish year as headwinds pick up

Ireland is outperforming Europe but a ‘wait and see’ approach will guide the rest of an uncertain year

It has been a sluggish start to 2024, and it looks like that the manufacturing sector here is likely to be in the low single-digits, at best, for the rest of the year .

Over 275,000 people are employed across the sector in Ireland, while over 44 per cent of corporate tax revenue comes from manufacturing firms, according to Ibec, but the sector faced a slow down last year.
