Bank of Ireland appoints new chief operating officer of retail division

Appointment comes with the bank under pressure over gender balance in senior roles

Bank of Ireland has appointed Aoife Leonard as chief operating office of its retail division.

Leonard has led the bank’s distribution, digital and operations team for two years, as head of Retail Ireland, she will oversee day-to-day operations for the retail business, which has 4,000 staff across its branches and contact centres.

The appointment comes just over a month after Bank of Ireland appointed Susan Russell as chief executive of the division.
