Insurance giant Aviva is to re-enter the health insurance market in Ireland after an eight-year gap as part of a joint venture.

Consumers are set to benefit from greater competition in the market as the company is looking to launch a joint venture with a group including the insurer’s former chief executive, Jim Dowdall, and former VHI boss Oliver Tattan.
