Measures to accelerate the processing of surging numbers of international protection applicants are to be brought to cabinet by the justice minister today.

Helen McEntee is to brief her cabinet colleagues on further measures to stem the increasing flow of people seeking international protection. The new measures will primarily entail international protection applicants from the country which has had the highest number coming here over the previous three months being put into an “accelerated process”.
