Asterion Industrial Partners, a Spanish investment firm, has agreed a deal to buy an 80 per cent stake in National Broadband Ireland for an undisclosed fee.

The Madrid-based investor in European infrastructure is set to acquire the stakes of a number of major investors as well as a number of smaller backers of the multi-billion-euro National Broadband Plan (NBP).
