An entertainment industry representative group is working on legislation to require those involved in the music and entertainment sector be licensed in order to improve pay, increase regulation and understand the true numbers of those in the industry.

The Music and Entertainment Association of Ireland (MEAI), a representative association for professionals in the music and entertainment industry, has called for venues, performers and promoters in the industry to be licensed.
