Aramark, the owner of Avoca and the catering provider to some of the country’s largest direct provision centres, reduced its staff numbers last year by nearly 1,300 as its sales fell by nearly €40 million.

Accounts filed by Aramark Ireland Holdings show the company continued to reduce the number of staff it employs here amid tumbling revenues and rising accumulated losses. The company has also cited “unrealistic” wage increases as a threat to further growth.
