Amazon’s Irish workforce braces for impact as company cuts 9,000 more jobs globally

The second round of cuts by the tech giant follows an announcement in January that it will layoff 18,000 people

Amazon’s Irish based workers face an anxious wait after the tech giant has unveiled a further 9,000 layoffs in addition to 18,000 job cuts that were announced in January.

The roles will be in AWS, human resources (called PXT by Amazon), advertising. and Twitch, its games streaming business. Amazon employs approximately 5,000 people in Ireland, although no details have been announced yet as to what effect the cuts will have here.
