Almost 2.45 million people employed in the state last year

New CSO figures also reveal that transportation and storage had the largest growth but IT shrunk

The number of people employed in Ireland rose 1.8 per cent to just under 2.45 million people last year, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Broken down by age categories, employees over 65 had the largest annual growth at 7.8 per cent to 60,800 people. The only age range that recorded a decline was the 15-19 group, which dipped 1.5 per cent to 118,400 workers.
