Agilent names Irishman Padraig McDonnell as chief executive

Irishman succeeds Mike McMullen at head of Silicon Valley firm

Padraig McDonnell, Agilent’s new chief executive, said he was ‘excited by the endless possibilities’ of bringing ‘great science to life’.

Agilent, the Silicon Valley scientific instrument and software firm, has appointed Padraig McDonnell as its new chief executive and chief operations officer.

McDonnell, 52, has been president of the Agilent’s CrossLab Group (ACG) since May 2020. He was named chief commercial officer in November 2021.

Koh Boon Hwee, chairman of Agilent’s board of directors, said in a statement that the appointment illustrated the “quality and depth” of the Agilent team.
