Rose Conway-Walsh once said that if she wasn’t a politician, she would probably be an economist.

The Sinn Féin TD for Mayo got a little bit closer to combining both of those roles last week when Mary Lou McDonald appointed her as the party’s spokeswoman for public expenditure in a reshuffle.

That means Conway-Walsh will be shadowing Fine Gael heavyweight Paschal Donohoe, with the clear intention of taking over his ministerial role at the Department ...
