Patrick Kielty: The host with the most to say
Northern comedian Patrick Kielty is the hot favourite to succeed Ryan Tubridy as host of The Late Late Show. But, with his wicked humour and forthright opinions, is he a bit too hot for RTÉ to handle?
At the end of Patrick Kielty’s appearance on The Tommy Tiernan Show last January, there was a moment of quiet.
The Co Down comedian had just eloquently outlined his idea of a shared island and Tiernan allowed the moment to linger before breaking the silence to end the interview.
“I hope we see a lot more of you. It’s been a revelation and good craic talking to you.”
It seems increasingly likely that we will be seeing a lot more of Kielty, as following Claire Byrne’s decision to walk away from discussions over the next host of the Late Late Show, he is now confirmed as Ryan Tubridy’s successor.
