No smoke without ire – e-cigs face curbs in bid to stub out teen vaping

A ban on disposable devices and sales of all nicotine products to under-18s is on the cards in an attempt to protect the young and the environment

Ossian Smyth, Minister of State for the Environment, lists the names of cigarette brands to prove his point about the popularity of vapes among Irish teenagers.

“Marlboro, Silk Cut, Benson and Hedges, I can reel all these names off. If you ask teenagers to name three vaping brands, they can – no problem. But ask them for three cigarette brands and they can’t. That’s really surprising for someone of my age,” he said.
