California’s tenth atmospheric river this year arrived just in time to take the metrological equivalent of a fire hose to Oscar weekend.

But the downpour did little to dampen the spirits of the record number of Irish film industry members, politicians and assorted dignitaries who have brought an atmospheric river of their own as they descend on Los Angeles and other cities for a week bookended by the Academy Awards and St Patrick’s Day.
