After a bruising first six months as director general of RTÉ, Kevin Bakhurst has more than a few hurdles to overcome in 2024, not least two outstanding reports arising from the secret payments scandal.

He will also be hoping to ring in the new year by finalising the national broadcaster’s strategic vision for the next five years, even as RTÉ faces two further government-sanctioned external reviews into practices at Montrose.
