The no-nonsense minister for rural affairs and social protection is seen as a safe pair of hands and a potential candidate for the Áras, but does she have presidential potential?

A senior minister since 2014, and with the next presidential election approaching, Humphreys’ name is increasingly being mentioned

“Some ministers think they’re ministers, but they talk like civil servants – and it’s civil servants who are running their ministry,” an impassioned Michael Ring, Fine Gael TD, said.
