Germany introduces women-only carriages on regional train line

Spokesman says move is in response to increased desire for privacy

Women-only carriages are to be introduced on train services in Leipzig in Germany.

The female-only cars are being rolled out on the Leipzig to Chemnitz line run by Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn.

The female carriages will be adjacent to the train conductor to increase personal safety.

Boys under ten years of age will also be allowed on the carriages.
