The real estate investment trust (Reit) market in Ireland is on the verge of extinction and the government has to decide whether it will take steps to revive it or let the curtains close.

The regime is under consideration as part of is wider review into the funds industry. In a sign of how small the market is, just 15 per cent of those that responded to the consultation answered questions regarding Reits.
