On Wednesday last, June 26, the medical cannabis access programme was launched, enabling compassionate access to cannabis for medicinal reasons where conventional treatment has failed. The three therapeutic areas where access will be facilitated include spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis, intractable nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy and severe refractory (treatment-resistant) epilepsy.
