Analysts split on British rate cut timing, even as inflation falls

UK inflation figures brought good news with price rises falling to 3.2 per cent in March, but some still think rate cuts will come later in the year

As finance ministers and central bankers mingle in Washington, many in the City of London are increasingly conflicted about when the Bank of England will move to cut interest rates.

On the face of it, Wednesday's inflation figures brought good news with price rises falling to 3.2 per cent in March, a lower-than-expected slowdown that nonetheless puts the UK on the path back to its 2 per cent target.
