At one recent business event in London, a prominent Irish entrepreneur quipped that the UK "getting back its swagger" could only be good for Ireland and the world.

The latest GDP figures, which saw the British economy grow by a faster-than-expected 0.6 per cent, may not represent a swagger but it's at least a step in the right direction as it exited a technical recession.
