As Robert Troy’s address to the 2012 Fianna Fáil ard fheis built to a crescendo, the rank-and-file party members seemed suitably impressed with their newly elected representative for Longford-Westmeath.

Troy’s speech, ostensibly to introduce Micheál Martin ahead of the latter’s maiden ard fheis address as party leader, was littered with rallying cries and crowd pleasers, which had delegates on their feet on more than one occasion.
