Irish start-up Cadence is launching a new app today which will allow runners to test their times against their friends and world-class athletes going back to 1896.

Founded by former Sunday Times business journalist Vincent Ryan, Cadence is coinciding its launch with the Olympics, with the goal of holding the biggest race ever run at the end of the Games.

Cadence uses data from existing fitness trackers, including Strava, Fitbit, Runkeeper and Mapmyrun. ...
