As ‘the world’s greatest restaurant’ Noma re-opens its doors in Copenhagen, Shilpa Ganatra heads to the Danish capital to find out what else is cooking

On the minty-cold day that I turn up to take a snap of the Little Mermaid, lounging on a rock off Copenhagen’s shoreline, it’s difficult to get a look-in with dozens of tourists doing the same. Turns out it wasn’t worth the effort of impolitely slipping in front, with the back of my head photobombing several selfies along the way. The unassumingly small bronze statue is more of a damp squib than a mermaid, made even less spectacular by the fact that it isn’t even the one sculpted by Edward Eriksen, but rather a copy of the original.
