Selfie fever continues to rage unabated, with a new exhibition in London devoted to the ‘art’ form. But what does it say about the times we live in?

I’m not one to tell other people how to lead their lives, but I’ll be honest: as far as I’m concerned, one of the odder and more disturbing trends of modern times has been our increasing fascination with selfie-taking – the practice whereby we relentlessly take pictures of ourselves to post on social media, racking up ‘likes’ as a form of currency.
