In legend, the great Tonn Ruraigh – a large, roaring wave off the coast of Co Down – is heard but never seen. The sound of the wave is believed to herald events of great significance.

Designer Shane Holland was researching a public sculpture commission in Co Down when he discovered the legend of Tonn Ruraigh. A couple of months later, he found himself in his workshop, creating a “twisted, sculptural wave shape”.
