Kilkenny glam popstrels Engine Alley were darlings of the music press in the 1990s before going on a two-decade hiatus. Now they’re back and eager to prove they can still cut it

Even the most detailed plans can sometimes veer off course. Take Engine Alley as a prime example of what can go wrong when so many things should have gone right. Back in the early 1990s, just as grunge was hitting its peak, the Kilkenny group renounced the present, cast their ears back to David Bowie, the Beatles and T Rex, and looked forward.
