I was always a reader, primarily. And the way that reading made me feel seemed so strange and powerful that I worshipped the idea of the writer. I spent a lot of my childhood and adolescence writing copies, almost parodies because of how poorly executed they were, of the things I best liked to read.

Of course when you turn to write yourself, you learn that you don’t have the same power as those writers ...
