The argument around whether public money should be helping to finance private schools surfaces every few years.

It is currently on the agenda because of plans by Sinn Féin and Labour to phase out public funding for fee-paying schools should they get into power after the next election. The last time the subject got this much focus was probably during the recession. Now, we find ourselves in a cost-of-living crisis.
