Eithne Shortall: Drug use is rampant. We should legalise most of it

A few Friday afternoons ago, cycling home from Dublin city, my son and I interrupted two drug deals. We’re not trying to carry out sting operations. This is just a side effect of him being four and thus having to cycle, ever so slowly, on the footpath.

The first bust was on a grey street in the city itself. Only it wasn’t much of a bust because the pair weren’t trying to hide anything.
