Eithne Shortall: Big girls do cry, and we’re not the only ones

Whether it’s getting older, becoming a parent, or the world becoming a harsher, more cynical place, the tears seem to flow more readily these days

I’ve been crying a lot recently. There’s nothing wrong with me, nothing more than usual anyway. It’s other people’s trials that tend to set me off.

At home, I work in an office upstairs and Himself is at a computer downstairs. Sometimes, at lunch or on my way past to make tea, I’ll tell him about a news story I was reading or clip I was watching and how I blubbed through it.
