Daniel Finkelstein is a British Conservative peer who instinctively dislikes extreme Ulster unionism. “We have all been trying to find something in Brexit that can unite us, heal us, bring us together,” he wrote in a 2019 newspaper column. “We haven’t done too well so far. But I’m excited to say that I think I’ve found a contender: we can all agree that we have had enough of the Democratic Unionist Party.”
