Book review: Keir Starmer biography offers a fresh take on Britain’s likely next prime minister

This is a worthy and sensible portrait of an unlikely leader in waiting with a love of Ireland

Keir Starmer has said he is “in love with” the island of Ireland. The British Labour leader plays five-a-side football while wearing a Donegal GAA jersey. His chief of staff is a former Newry publican who hints that as prime minister he might follow Ireland’s example of resolving sensitive issues through citizens’ assemblies.
