Book Review: Gleeson’s long-fiction debut sparkles with literary luminescence

Hagstone is a satisfyingly easy read, built on a plot that moves relentlessly forward

Sinead Gleeson has delivered on the high expectations for her first novel

Sinéad Gleeson’s first novel has been a long time coming. The well-known journalist and broadcaster has written about literature for most of her career and has edited a host of well-received collections, while her first book, the magnificent Constellations, was the non-fiction book of the year at the 2019 Irish Book Awards.

So to say that expectations were high for her long-fiction debut would be something of an understatement. Thankfully, Hagstone does not disappoint.
