In the late 1960s, a Texan Lawyer named Herb Kelleher and two business partners pursued an idea. They believed they could revolutionise air travel with a start-up airline based on a few central principles: use one type of aircraft (the Boeing 737) to keep maintenance and certification simple; turn the aircraft around quickly to get them back in the sky to earn money; and use secondary “cheaper” airports where possible.
