Ms Justice Mary Irvine, President of the High Court, expects the numbers of solicitors appointed to the High Court and Supreme Court to grow in the coming years.

“As the number of solicitors practising as senior counsel increases, I expect the number of judges appointed to the superior courts from the solicitors’ profession to grow year on year,” she said.

“Never before have the two arms of the legal profession been closer and more interconnected.”
