RTE Television has had to make some difficult choices lately, and its decision to cut its Premier League show is a real sign of the financial pain being felt at the broadcaster.

TV ad revenue continues to fall, but it hasn't all been bad news - the broadcaster has proved it can deliver great content, highlighted by the success of Love/Hate, which is edging closer to a lucrative US remake.
