Media legislation is now long overdue

It does matter to society who owns and controls the media. For this reason, the inaction by successive governments on the issue - and the lack of legislative response to the 2009 proposals by the advisory group about media mergers - is unfortunate. We are told that legislation is now on the way. Perhaps, finally, a more up-to-date structure will be created - the current regime is a rather unsatisfactory mix of oversight ...
