Relief at the (temporary) avoidance of the dreaded **fiscal cliff** has been so strong that markets in the United States have rallied to levels last seen at the end of 2007. The five-year high on the broad-based S&P 500 helped lift global stocks, too, with the FTSE All World index reaching a 19-month peak.
