Government fears abuse of Irish Water's honesty-based system for capping water charges for people with medical conditions

The government is afraid there will be “widespread abuse” of the capping of water charges for people with medical conditions.

Under the current system, householders who tick a box on their water charges form to say that they have a medical condition have their bills capped automatically without having to provide any proof of the condition.
