EU leaders face a hectic summer of horsetrading'

Horsetrading between European leaders over senior EU jobs looks set to continue all summer, after they failed to agree how to fill two of the most important posts in Brussels last week.

Senior politicians tend to attach great importance to the issue of which senior politicians fills what senior political job. This is especially evident when Europe’s leaders meet to decide on the leaders of the European institutions for the next five years.
