Sinn Féin has elected its first candidate in Co Limerick in almost 100 years, following unprecedented success in the local elections.

Sinn Féin has elected its first candidate in Co Limerick in almost 100 years, following unprecedented success in the local elections.

Overall the party could be in line to see all six of its candidates elected to the new Limerick local authority.

UCC politics student Lisa Marie Sheehy was the first Sinn Féin candidate elected to the new authority and was elected on the first count of the Cappamore-Kimallock Electoral area.
