Comment: Social workers are out of excuses on reporting abuse

The response of the Irish Association of Social Workers (IASW) to the legislation published to mandate reporting of sexual abuse of children was depressing and predictable in equal measure.

The greatest, and perhaps primary, challenge we face in this country in relation to child abuse is to develop a child protection system that is fit for purpose. I would say to the IASW, don't give up just yet on vulnerable children.
