Archive puts Irish history and heritage on the map

Malachy McVeigh has just undertaken a massive project: he has transferred maps of Ireland for the period between 1825 and 1913 into a digital archive for computers.

The archive, commissioned by the Ordnance Survey of Ireland (OSI), has two databases.The first, a genealogical database, is being launched next month. It offers the descendants of Irish people a chance to learn about their heritage.
